The first solution is to expand Medicaid so that people actually get care without postponing appointments or ending up in the ER more seriously ill and burdening our community hospitals with unreimbursed care. Write-offs from Medicare and Medicaid are already significant, let alone adding the cost of care for people who are unnecessarily more ill due to postponed care.
